Immigration:
     Date:   12 Oct 1716
     Place:   York, Virginia

Individual Note:
     There are several accounts of the circumstances of the
immigration of Sylvester Proffitt to the new world. All are
consistent and include as fact that he was a Jacobite rebel who
was captured at Preston, Lancashire, England on 14 November
1715 during the Jacobite revolution and was transported to
London for trial and departed (deported? escaped?) from
Liverpool 27 June 1716 aboard the Elizabeth and Anne, captained
by Edward Tafford. According to these accounts he arrived in
York, Virginia 12 October 1716 as an indentured servant.
Clinton Proffitt 34 Elvin Ave. Penns Grove NJ 08069 is cited by
a relative Iris Proffit Hurst.....JHurst1565@aol.com

The fact that Ellen Maria Clark's mother Mary Maria Proffitt
mentions a brother name Pleasant indicates that the data from
the Old genealogy collection tracing the line back to Sylvester
and Alice Pleasants is in substance correct.

However I have not personally checked all the documentation.
